Grammar and Spelling Tutorial

Old Auntie Ginny, who still fondly remembers the strict lessons of her childhood schoolmarms, offers the following guidance for webmasters and webmistresses who wish to avoid the most common errors of spelling and grammar found on the kinds of sites discussed here.  If you have noticed errors commonly occurring in web site text that you feel should be added to this list, please send the information to me at: virginiagrant@hotmail.com

Your vs You're
Your is possessive, as is in: Are those really your panties sir?
You're is the contraction of you are, as in: You're going to get yourself over my knee for the bare rear blistering spanking that you deserve.

Dominate vs Dominant
Dominate is a verb. Dominant is an adjective.
There are many dominant women who like to dominate sissy wimp males.

Their vs There
Their is possessive. There refers to a location or may be used as an article.
There are many of their slaves over there.

Its vs It's
Its is possessive. It's is the contraction of it is.
It's almost time for the sissy slave to get into its maid outfit to serve my guests.

Possessives vs Plurals
Typically, possessives require an apostrophe whereas plurals do not require an apostrophe.
There were many sissies at the party.  This sissie's job is to service the other mistresses at the party.

Plural Possessives
When a pluralized word is possessive, the apostrophe goes AFTER the final s.  There were 10 sissy maids serving at the party.  It was the sissies' job to clean up after dinner.

Effect vs Affect
With some minor exceptions, Effect is a noun whereas Affect is a verb.  When discussing the consequences or result of some action or event, use Effect.  When discussing the action of influencing something, use Affect.
The slave was so affected by the beauty of his mistress that he was unable to speak.  Her mere presence in the room had a dramatic effect on his behavior.
One good way for a wife to affect her husband's behavior is to give him regular spankings followed by petticoating.  The effect of this treatment on his devotion and obedience will be almost immediately apparent.

Lose vs Loose
When we lose something, we have difficulty finding it.  Something which is large and can be removed easily is loose. The dog's collar was very loose.  As a result, we were worried that he would lose it.

Transsexual
There are 2 "s's" in transsexual.  It is a compound word, combining "trans" with "sexual." Also note in this example that the close quote marks at the end of the sentence go after the period, not before the period.

Teach vs Learn
Teach refers to the action of imparting knowledge to another.  Learn, on the other hand, is a reflexive verb. That means that you yourself learn; you do not "learn" someone else.
Correct: Mistress taught her sissy how to serve properly at parties.  Her sissy learned how to do what his mistress desired.
Incorrect: Mistress learned her sissy to serve properly.
